George Liston Seay discusses the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War with John Sherman, author of War Stories: A Memoir of Nigeria and Biafra (Mesa Verde Press, 2002). Sherman, an American who served in the Peace Corps and with a food/medical team operated by the International Committee of the Red Cross during the civil war in Nigeria in the late 1960s, describes in intimate and personal detail the events that took place in Nigeria in the late 1960s before and after May 30, 1967, when the Eastern Region of Nigeria seceded and became the Republic of Biafra.
